Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and the Footholds team ("we", "us") about your use of the Footholds app. By using Footholds, you agree to them.
Who can use Footholds
You must be at least 13 to use Footholds. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. If you create an account, keep your password safe; you're responsible for what happens under your account.
What Footholds is, and isn't
Footholds helps you practise for a talk: it gives you a rehearsal plan, measures your recordings, and keeps your history. Its numbers are measurements, not judgments, and they can be wrong. A noisy room or an unusual accent can throw off a transcript. Footholds is not professional coaching, medical advice, or therapy. If anxiety about speaking seriously affects your life, please talk to a qualified professional.
Your content
Your talks, scripts, recordings and reflections stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only so we can run Footholds for you, as our Privacy Policy explains, including AI processing if you've turned it on. Only record people who have agreed to be recorded, and don't upload anything you don't have the right to use.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse Footholds. That means: don't try to break, overload or reverse-engineer it; don't access other people's data; don't get around its limits or payments; and don't use it for anything illegal.
Purchases
- Free: every talk gets a rehearsal plan and unlimited recording. Your first 2 talks also get 3 measured takes each.
- Talk Pass: a one-time purchase ($29 in the US) that gives you unlimited measured takes on one talk. It doesn't expire and isn't a subscription.
- Pro: a subscription ($14.99 a month or $79 a year in the US) that gives you unlimited measured takes on every talk.
"Unlimited" means normal personal use. To keep the service running for everyone, measured takes are capped at 60 a day. Recording is never capped.
Prices may differ in other countries, and the App Store shows the exact price before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
Pro renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings at any time; cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, what it unlocked is removed.
Apple
If you got Footholds from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). If it conflicts with these terms, these terms apply where the law allows. Apple isn't responsible for Footholds or for supporting it, but Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
Changes and ending
We may change Footholds or these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. You can stop using Footholds and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
Disclaimers and limits
Footholds is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise any particular result from your talk. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where the Footholds team is based, except where your local consumer law gives you more protection.
